F.E.M. has the perfect vacation for co-op members. Each summer, we offer a consumer tour to see the power generation and transmission facilities of Basin Electric Power Cooperative (one of F.E.M.’s power supply partners). As a cooperative member of Basin, F.E.M. Electric members own a share of these generation assets. This is an all-expense paid tour, usually scheduled in June, and is only open to members of F.E.M. Electric.
The trip will include a tour of the Antelope Valley Station, a lignite coal generation plant located northwest of Beulah, N.D, and a tour of the Freedom Mine which supplies lignite coal to the plant – it is one of the 10 largest coal mines in the United States. Other entertainment has included an afternoon cruise on the Lewis & Clark Riverboat, seeing a wind energy farm and shopping.
Reservations are limited and on a first come first serve basis so watch the Cooperative Connections newsletter in the spring for more information and the application form.
